As a counselor, Sean Madden has worked with kids of all ages for over 20 years in schools and mental health centers. He has a masters degree in counselor education. He has been happiest working with elementary school children, as it allows him to use storytelling, drawing, and music more often in his work.

    As an artist, his detailed pen and ink drawings and paintings have been published in the U.S., the U.K., Australia and Canada. As a jazz guitarist, he has entertained kids and adults in schools and coffeehouses. He knows how to entertain large groups of kids with art, music and storytelling. His character, Vito the Pig developed while Sean was entertaining kids in classrooms, long walks, and car rides. The story Vito and the Magic Bread naturally followed, and was a big hit with teachers and children as soon as they read it.

    Sean’s artistic and musical sensibilities developed while growing up in north Buffalo, New York. His lifelong love of children’s books developed in his neighborhood library, and was rekindled when he had two kids of his own. These days, he spends his time drawing and painting incessantly, playing guitar, and writing new Vito the Pig adventures!
